Australia’s brightest young racing driver
I had the pleasure to photograph Hugh Barter Racing, one of Australia’s brightest young racing drivers.
Having just turned 15, Hugh Barter was recently selected from a group of 10 of the world’s elite karters to join the prestigious Richard Mille Young Talent Academy. 2021 will see him graduate from being a Ricciardo Kart factory driver to racing in the French Formula 4 Championship.
I had a fantastic day, shooting Hugh alongside some breathtaking machinery at Dutton Garage, Brighton Alpine & Ferrari Melbourne.
I am looking forward to following Hugh’s journey and hope to be cheering him on in a few years’ time in the Australian Grand Prix.\

I was Born in Nagoya, Japan, to a Japanese mother and Australian father. I grew up in Melbourne, Australia’s Grand Prix city and my passion for his sport is infectious.
My journey as a racing driver began at the age of seven and my intention from the first time I pulled on my karting helmet was clear to become Formula 1 World Champion.
From my debut, consistently recording wins and podium finishes from the outset with a methodical approach to continual improvement.
Along the way I have been selected to represent Australia on the international stage on multiple occasions, and signed as a lead driver for Daniel Ricciardo’s Ricciardo Kart Factory Team in 2020.
In acknowledgement of his outstanding performances, in late 2020 Hugh was one of ten of the world’s leading karters to be invited by Birel ART to attend the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy in France. Hugh was selected over the nine other highly accomplished candidates to race for the 2021 French Formula 4 Championship.
